இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் கர்த்தருக்கு ஏறெடுத்துப் படைக்கும் படைப்பாகிய தசமபாகத்தை லேவியருக்குச் சுதந்தரமாகக் கொடுத்தேன்; ஆகையால் இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரரின் நடுவே அவர்களுக்குச் சுதந்தரமில்லையென்று அவர்களுக்குச் சொன்னேன் என்றார்.

ஆனால் இஸ்ரவேல் ஜனங்கள் தங்களுக்குரிய அனைத்திலும் பத்தில் ஒரு பங்கை எனக்கு தருவார்கள். நான் அதனை லேவியர்களுக்குத் தருவேன். எனவே லேவியர்கள் மற்ற இஸ்ரவேலரைப் போல நிலம் எதையும் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளமாட்டார்கள்” என்று கூறினார்.
